Clear fault codes and monitor DPF status in BMW vehicles
Bimmer-Tool enables you to read and clear fault codes, initiate DPF regeneration, monitor real-time engine data, and perform many other functions in BMW cars.
For vehicles manufactured before 2008, app functionality is limited and using a K+D-CAN USB cable is recommended. Wireless ELM adapter connections with pre-2008 models may not be possible or may not support all features.
Important: A reliable OBD adapter is required. K+D-CAN cable, ENET adapter (for F/G series), or any of the following Bluetooth adapters are recommended:

The application allows you to:
- Check DPF regeneration status and detailed data
- Request DPF regeneration
- Reset DPF adaptation values (required after filter replacement)
- Monitor exhaust gas pressure
- Read injector adjustments
- View actual and expected values for air mass, intake manifold pressure, and fuel pressure
- Log data to CSV files for analysis
- Register battery replacement (without modifying battery settings)
- Reset lamp circuits blocked due to short-circuit errors
- Reset oil and brake service intervals**
Supported OBD Adapters
- K+D-CAN USB: This is the most reliable and recommended adapter. A USB-OTG cable is also needed.
- ENET Cable/WiFi Adapter: Recommended for F & G series. For ENET cable connections, a USB-C to Ethernet adapter is required.
- ELM327 Bluetooth: Bluetooth connections may be slower than USB. Only genuine ELM327 or PIC18-based adapters are supported. May not work with older engines. See below for details.
- ELM327 WiFi: Similar to ELM Bluetooth, this connection may be less stable. On some devices, you must disable mobile data to use the WiFi adapter.

Quick Start Guide
1) Connect the adapter to the OBD II port
2) Turn the ignition on
3) Connect the adapter to your phone:
* USB: Use a USB-OTG cable to connect the adapter to your phone. Select Bimmer-Tool when prompted.
* Bluetooth: Go to Bluetooth settings, search for devices, and pair the adapter (PIN is usually 0000 or 1234).
* WiFi: Disable mobile data, turn on WiFi, and connect to the adapter’s network.
4) Launch the app, go to 'Car,' and select the model and year.
5) Go to 'Connection,' then choose the connection type, adapter, and communication protocol.
6) Tap the 'Connect' button.
** Limitations:
For models before 2008 (including e46/e39/e83/e53), the app requires a K+D-CAN cable and only supports the engine ECU. Wireless ELM adapter connections may not work.
Common Problems
- 'No response' error in cars from 2007 or earlier with BT/WiFi adapters. If this occurs intermittently, try enabling ATWM under advanced connection settings.
- No connection: If adapter and protocol settings are correct and the app still fails to connect, force-close all diagnostic apps (including Bimmer-Tool) or restart your phone and try again.
Why does the app require permissions?
- Storage: Required for USB adapter support
- Photos/Media/Files: Enables CSV file creation
- Pair with Bluetooth devices/access Bluetooth settings: Required for Bluetooth adapters
- Full network access: Required for WiFi adapters
- Approximate location: While Bluetooth can theoretically determine location, this app does not access or use location data.
