Square Enix RPG Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Good News for RPG Fans: Triangle Strategy Returns to the Nintendo Switch eShop!

Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed tactical RPG from Square Enix, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. This welcome return allows Nintendo Switch players to once again purchase and download the game. The brief delisting, lasting several days, has left fans speculating about the reasons behind it.

Square Enix's recent acquisition of the publishing rights from Nintendo is a likely explanation for the game's temporary absence. This popular title, reminiscent of classic tactical RPGs like Fire Emblem, features strategic unit placement and combat, a hallmark of Square Enix's renowned turn-based RPGs.

The game's return was confirmed via a Square Enix Twitter announcement. While no official reason was given for the delisting, the timing coincides with the publishing rights transfer. This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has experienced a temporary eShop removal; Octopath Traveler faced a similar situation last year, though its absence was considerably longer.

This swift return of Triangle Strategy is positive news for Nintendo Switch owners and highlights the ongoing collaboration between Square Enix and Nintendo. This partnership is long-standing, exemplified by the console-exclusive release of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (before its multi-platform launch) and other notable titles.

Square Enix's history of releasing console exclusives stretches back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES. While their releases now span multiple platforms, the practice continues, as seen with the PlayStation 5 exclusive Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the initial Nintendo Switch exclusivity of Dragon Quest XI's definitive edition.
