My interest in this set was sparked after reading IGN's review of the Piranha Plant. As a lifelong fan of Mario games, this set seemed like the perfect homage to the franchise. While LEGO's botanical line offers beautiful flower sets that would also complement my desk, none capture the whimsical terror quite like the Piranha Plant.

How Much Are You Willing to Spend on a LEGO Set You Love?
As mentioned, LEGO sets can be a costly indulgence, especially with new adult-targeted sets priced at $200 or more being released yearly. It's easy to be tempted into overspending on these impressive creations. For me, the decision to buy the Mario LEGO set for under $50 felt justified. The hours spent building it and the daily happiness it brings me are definitely worth it. Though it's a subjective value, $50 is my current threshold for such a purchase.
