Ubisoft has officially announced the global release times for the much-anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows. In a departure from previous titles and Ubisoft's general practices, this game boasts a unified release date with no option for early access through additional payment.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S at 12am local time on March 20. However, the release times for PC players differ depending on the platform. Those using Steam or Ubisoft’s own platform, Ubi Connect, will have different launch schedules.
Pre-load is currently available on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC, allowing eager fans to get ready for the big day.
The pressure is on for Assassin's Creed Shadows to perform well for Ubisoft, especially following multiple delays and the underwhelming sales of last year's Star Wars Outlaws. The company has faced significant challenges, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations leading up to this release.
IGN’s review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows awarded it an impressive 8/10, praising the game for refining its existing systems and delivering one of the best open-world experiences in the series to date. "By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows creates one of the best versions of the open-world style it’s been honing for the last decade," the review stated.
