Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has announced the end of an era with the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, which comes at a poignant time as the iconic character celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. Launched over a decade ago, this mobile version of the classic game has been a beloved part of many gamers' lives.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. As of April 1st, in-app purchases have been discontinued, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final date. If you're still a fan, you have until May 30th to indulge in your last games.

The decision to completely shut down PAC-MAN Mobile rather than transition it to an offline mode has left many players disappointed. An offline version would have been a welcomed alternative, allowing fans to continue enjoying the game and potentially generating some revenue for Bandai Namco.

This version of PAC-MAN, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included an 8-bit arcade mode, a Story Mode with numerous original mazes, an Adventure Mode featuring limited-time themed events for exclusive skins, and a Tournament Mode with weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. Players could also customize PAC-MAN, the ghosts, and even the joystick with various skins.

The Reason

The game has faced significant challenges in recent years, with accumulating bugs and issues likely playing a major role in the decision to shut it down. In its early days on Android, PAC-MAN Mobile was a thrilling experience, with players competing for high scores and leaderboard rankings. Those were exciting times filled with fun and competition.

If you're looking to enjoy PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
