In Divinity: Original Sin 2, few herbs carry as much weight as Blackroot. This rare plant becomes crucial during Act IV when performing Meister Siva’s ritual—a rite that grants access to the Hall of Echoes and the coveted Night Vision ability. While your first ritual relies on ingredients conveniently found in Siva’s basement, subsequent attempts require resourcefulness.
The hunt for Blackroot begins in Cloisterwood.
Venture Into Cloisterwood
Tucked northwest of Driftwood lies the foreboding Cloisterwood. Press ALT (or the highlight key on consoles) to reveal interactive objects—among them, you’ll spot Blackroot nestled at tree bases. While one suffices for the ritual, seasoned adventurers gather extra to avoid backtracking.
Cloisterwood isn’t just about herbs, though.
Cloisterwood Exploration Tips
This forest hides more than foliage:
- Source Masters – Hannag and Jahan (key to Lohse’s quest) offer Source points.
- Eithne the Undead Trader – Find her in ruins; ask about the "Divine Order" for a side quest.
- The Dead Ferryman – At the northern pier, he’ll sail you to Bloodmoon Island—if you dare.
- Alice Alisceon – Avoid the crucified witch until level 15+; she’s a notorious roadblock.
Bonus Secrets:
- Wrecker’s Cave conceals valuables.
- A ghostly ship captain might offer a unique Loremaster amulet.
Pro Tip? Scour every corner—but save the witch for last.
