According to Variety, a reboot of the iconic series Buffy the Vampire Slayer is nearing realization, with Hulu at the helm. The exciting news? Sarah Michelle Gellar is in discussions to return to her legendary role as Buffy, albeit as a recurring character, while the spotlight shifts to a new Slayer.
Adding to the anticipation, Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao, celebrated for her work on Nomadland and Eternals, is being courted to both direct and executive produce the reboot. The writing and showrunning duties will be handled by the talented duo Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman. Notably, original series creator Joss Whedon will not be part of this revival, following allegations of fostering a toxic work environment during the original series' production and its spinoff, Angel.
