Digimon's latest venture into the mobile gaming arena, Digimon Alysion, was unveiled during DIGIMON CON 2025, sparking excitement among fans of the franchise. This new mobile Trading Card Game (TCG) is designed to broaden the appeal of Digimon's TCG by tapping into the mobile gaming market, much like successful predecessors such as Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap.
During the DIGIMON CON 2025 Livestream on March 20, Bandai Namco introduced Digimon Alysion as a free-to-play digital TCG. Players will have the opportunity to collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters from the franchise, construct their decks, and engage in battles against other players. A significant highlight of Digimon Alysion is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, which promises to offer players more than just the usual competitive play.
The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer that provided a glimpse into the gameplay and introduced an all-female cast speculated to be part of the story mode. The new characters include Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, alongside a newly introduced Digimon, Gemmon. Although an official release date for Digimon Alysion has not been announced, a closed beta test is on the horizon, with further details to be shared soon.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger More Details Revealed
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 shed more light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's background, its main characters, and showcased some of the special moves of the Digimon featured in the game. Hara confirmed that players will begin their journey by choosing from three starter Digimon: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all beloved characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is set to boast an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory, which had 330 Digimon. The new trailer highlighted some of these Digimon, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon.
Further details about the game's storyline and main characters were also revealed. Players can choose to play as either the male protagonist, Dan Yuki, or the female protagonist, Kanan Yuki, both of whom are secret agents for ADAMAS, an organization tasked with investigating mysterious threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their adventure. The game's title hints at a focus on time travel, with the protagonist navigating through different timelines.
The event also featured announcements such as the Digimon Anime's 25th Anniversary PV, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and an upcoming anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. The future looks bright for the Digimon franchise, with fans eagerly awaiting further updates.
