The leak was first spotted and shared by Gematsu, which provided store links for pre-orders on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Although the GameStop pages lack images and gameplay details, the timing of the leak suggests that an official announcement could be imminent.
Sony's upcoming State of Play event is scheduled to feature 40 minutes of content, and while the specifics remain under wraps, the sudden appearance of Digimon Story: Time Stranger pre-order listings hints at a potential reveal during the presentation. This wouldn't be surprising given the room for multiple announcements in the show.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history that dates back to the original Digimon Story released on the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Since then, numerous installments have been released across various platforms, including notable titles like Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (2015) and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory (2017). A Complete Edition combining both Cyber Sleuth games was launched in 2019.
In past games, players enter the world of Digimon to befriend and battle with digital monsters through RPG gameplay. Despite franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teasing a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment.
