These equippable items provide passive buffs, significantly aiding your progress, especially on higher difficulties. Crafting and upgrading gems involves a degree of randomness, but mastering the system can give you a significant advantage. Here's how to craft, level up, and even influence the types of gems you obtain.
How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Gem crafting utilizes Pyroxene and is accessible at any Inn or tent. In your room, select "Create Gems" (the second option from the top). You can use any number of Pyroxene; each crystal creates one gem. Five distinct gems are craftable, with each Pyroxene having an equal chance of yielding any of these five.
Initially crafted gems are level 1 and can be equipped via the Battle Preparations menu. Subsequent crafting of the same gem type grants experience, leveling it up and increasing its potency. If you're not focused on specific gems, using all your Pyroxene at once provides a quick way to acquire and upgrade a variety of gems.
For those seeking specific gems, the "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" effect may trigger during crafting. This effect randomly selects three gems, limiting the possible outcomes for subsequent Pyroxene use. You can cancel this effect and re-enter the crafting menu to try again. While crafting one gem at a time is slower, it increases your chances of activating "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" for your desired gem.
Note that "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" reduces randomness but doesn't eliminate it entirely.

Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Pyroxene crystals appear randomly across the overworld map as orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with a crystal yields one Pyroxene and removes the crystal. Pyroxene respawns after completing skirmishes or battles, encouraging exploration of previously visited areas. You may also occasionally receive Pyroxene from letters found in your Inn or tent room.
