Elden Ring Expands with Two New Classes on Nintendo Switch 2 Tarnished Edition

by Alexis May 22,2025

Elden Ring is set to make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 with the exciting new Tarnished Edition, promising a fresh experience for players with additional content. FromSoftware unveiled these updates during the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6. This edition introduces two new character classes: the "Knight of Ides" and the "Heavy Armored Knight." These classes come with unique armor sets, two of which will be exclusive to the Tarnished Edition, while the other two can be obtained in-game. Additionally, players can look forward to new weapons and skills to enhance their gameplay.

For those deeply attached to their loyal steed, Torrent, the spirit horse will feature three new appearances, adding a personal touch to your journey through the Lands Between. While these enhancements are part of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which also includes the Shadow of the Erdtree content, FromSoftware has confirmed that these additions will be available on other platforms through the Tarnished Pack DLC. RPG Site reports that this DLC will be priced affordably, ensuring more players can enjoy the new content.

The introduction of new classes is particularly intriguing, especially for those who will be starting fresh on the Switch 2. It offers a chance to experiment with different playstyles right from the beginning, which could be especially appealing to players who have already explored Elden Ring on other platforms. With Elden Ring having surpassed 30 million sales worldwide, its arrival on the Switch 2 is poised to further boost its already impressive numbers.

While no specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, fans can anticipate their arrival sometime in 2025.
