Nearly a year after its release, Forspoken continues to spark heated debate among players, even in its current free-to-play iteration on PS Plus. Those who experienced it for free are just as divided in their opinions as those who paid full price.
The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup announcement revealed a surprisingly positive response to Forspoken (alongside Sonic Frontiers), with many players expressing anticipation.
However, a significant portion of those who tried Forspoken abandoned it within hours, citing "ridiculous dialogue" and a weak narrative. While some persevered, enjoying the combat, parkour, and exploration, the general consensus points to the story and dialogue as major detractors, rendering the game unbearable for many.
Ultimately, it seems PS Plus hasn't revitalized Forspoken's reception; the game's inherent inconsistencies remain a significant hurdle. In this action RPG, Frey, a young woman from New York, finds herself transported to the breathtaking yet perilous land of Athia. To return home, Frey must master her newfound magical abilities, navigate the expansive region, battle formidable monsters, and defeat powerful matriarchs known as the Tantas.
