This thrilling encounter follows the previously released Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1. This new installment is a nostalgic trip back to a past era, specifically post-1984's Secret Wars. The story finds Peter Parker, still adjusting to the symbiote suit's influence, facing an unprecedented threat: Godzilla himself. He'll need every bit of his enhanced abilities to save New York City.
Joe Kelly, the writer behind Marvel's upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch, pens this epic battle. The art is brought to life by Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men), with cover art contributions from Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.
Kelly shared his excitement: "The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped for it! This comic lets us go wild with two legendary characters, capturing the chaotic energy of that era. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity while giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his, shall we say, unique black suit) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter delivered with a earth-shattering roar!"
While DC recently released Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel planned), Marvel's series features the classic Toho Godzilla, a significant distinction. This announcement also follows the unveiling of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a charity anthology benefiting wildfire relief efforts.
Mark your calendars! Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 stomps onto the scene April 30, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on Marvel and DC's 2025 comic book releases.
