Hearthstone Unveils StarCraft Mini-Set: Release Date Announced

Hearthstone enthusiasts have a thrilling update on the horizon with the unveiling of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, set to launch on January 21. This Mini-Set is not just any expansion; it's the largest in Hearthstone's history, boasting an impressive array of 49 new cards. These cards are intricately designed to blend Hearthstone's classes with the iconic factions of StarCraft, including the Zerg for Death Knight, Protoss for Druid, and Terran for various classes. This crossover between Blizzard's beloved franchises promises to bring a fresh, strategic depth to the game.

The Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set was first teased during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, as part of The Great Dark Beyond expansion. Initially, only basic information was shared, but now, with the full reveal, players have a clear picture of what to expect. The Mini-Set includes 11 more cards than usual, with each Hearthstone class receiving three dedicated cards. The StarCraft factions are represented by five cards each, tailored for the classes they align with, including a Legendary card per faction. Additionally, a factionless neutral Legendary card, Grunty, rounds out the set. Hearthstone has already showcased some of these cards, with more reveals scheduled in the week leading up to the release.

The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize summoning numerous Zerglings and using the Hydralisk to amplify damage based on the swarm's size. Meanwhile, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue focus on mana manipulation, enabling the play of high-cost cards like the Carrier. The Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes gain access to the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond set, featuring new Starship Pieces, strategies to launch multiple Starships, and a unique Mech-themed Starship.

Given its larger size, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price point. Players can acquire a complete set for $20 or 2500 gold, which is $5 and 500 gold more than standard Mini-Sets. An all-Golden version is available for $80 or 12,000 gold, a $10 and 2,000 gold increase over the usual price. For those interested in specific factions, individual packs of Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards can be purchased for $10 or 1200 gold.

To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two special events: StarCast on January 23 at 10 AM PST, featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9, and HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST, where Hearthstone community creators will compete in faction-based matches and mini-games. Viewers can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by watching these events on Twitch, adding an extra incentive to tune in and engage with the community.
