Newly surfaced 2005 James Bond audition tapes showcase Henry Cavill's impressive take on 007, predating Daniel Craig's casting.
Games Radar reports the footage, uploaded to the Ron South YouTube channel (an independent filmmaker with a modest subscriber base), includes auditions from Cavill, Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend, and Anthony Starr.
Cavill's audition has garnered significant attention, with many, including Casino Royale director Martin Campbell, praising his performance as "tremendous." Campbell reportedly favored Cavill, but ultimately, other executives chose Craig.
Cavill later fulfilled his spy ambitions in Argylle, a film featuring a high-profile cast (Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara) but receiving mixed critical reception (IGN awarded it a 4/10).
Cavill maintains a diverse acting career, notably portraying Superman for DC, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and various other prominent roles.
