IGN has exciting news for fans of *Hollow Knight: Silksong*—the game will be playable at Australia’s national museum of screen culture, ACMI, in Melbourne from September 18, 2025. Team Cherry, the Adelaide-based studio behind this highly anticipated title, has kept fans on the edge of their seats with a release window pegged for 2025. This playable demo at ACMI offers a tangible opportunity for those in the vicinity to get their hands on the game as part of the Game Worlds exhibition, which will also spotlight the game's intricate design and artistic direction.

Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, co-curators at ACMI, expressed their excitement: “Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September. From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design. We’re so grateful to Team Cherry for trusting us with their work, and so excited to share that work with you!”

As part of the announcement, ACMI shared a sprite sheet from Silksong, showcasing the game's detailed design elements that will be on display. The image was provided to IGN with permission.

The playable demo at ACMI has sparked speculation about the game's release date. It's reasonable to assume that *Hollow Knight: Silksong* might launch before September 18, 2025, to coincide with the museum exhibition. Perhaps an August release is on the horizon?

The excitement around *Hollow Knight: Silksong* continues to build. The game made a brief appearance at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct last month, which included new gameplay footage and confirmed the 2025 release window. This was the most significant update on Silksong in years.

Initially announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, *Hollow Knight: Silksong* will also be available on Xbox (and Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game has been surrounded by cryptic teases over the years, including a mysterious chocolate cake recipe hint at the start of 2025, leading fans to speculate about a potential re-reveal in April.
