In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quests offer a rich narrative experience and a chance to connect with the game's characters more deeply. One such quest is *Bad Blood*, which you can unlock by following these steps:
How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
To begin the *Bad Blood* quest, you'll need to progress through the main questline until you're tasked with finding Mutt. Head to a clearing near Bozhena’s hut, where Henry will suggest checking if Bozhena has any information. When you speak to Bozhena, she’ll mention her missing daughter, Pavlena. Agree to help her, and the *Bad Blood* quest will be added to your journal.
Gather Information
Your first step is to visit Troskowitz and speak with Bailiff Thrush, followed by a conversation with Innkeeper Betty at the local tavern. They'll provide insights into Bozhena and Pavlena's past, explaining their ostracism from the village. Next, head to the designated area to talk to Woodcutter Dushko. He'll point you towards Roman's house, which you'll need to lockpick. Make sure to save your game before attempting this. Inside, examine Pavlena’s basket and then talk to Dushko again for more directions, leading you to a clearing near Roman’s house.
Search the Scene
From Roman’s house, follow the objective marker downhill towards a stream. Turn left at the two large boulders to find a trail of blood. This leads to Roman's body. Continue your investigation by speaking with Hogherd Hugo and then return to Troskowitz to talk to Hired Hand Straw. You’ll need to pass a dialogue check with Straw to uncover the truth about Jakesh, Roman, and Pavlena. After this, revisit Thrush to decide Straw's fate, then head south of Zhelejov to continue your investigation.
Confront Ota
Navigate to the large boulder in the objective area and find a path to climb up a ladder. There, you'll encounter Ota and Pavlena. With sufficient Charisma, you can persuade Ota to release Pavlena by choosing the right dialogue options: "What’s your name?", "Let her go and I’ll let you go," and "I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship." Once Pavlena is free, she'll kill Ota. After speaking with Pavlena, return to Bozhena with her, who will then ask you to deal with Jakesh.
Kill Jakesh or Make Peace
Your final decision in the quest is whether to kill Jakesh or facilitate peace between him and Bozhena. Find Jakesh at his child’s grave. You can either end his life or attempt to broker peace. Alternatively, you can choose to kill Bozhena instead. The quest concludes based on your choice. In my playthrough, I opted to kill Jakesh and reported back to Bozhena for a reward.
Should You Kill Jakesh?
Killing Jakesh will lower your reputation in Troskowitz but will significantly boost it with Bozhena and Pavlena. Additionally, you'll unlock new dialogue with Pavlena and receive a necklace that was a gift from Roman. On the other hand, if you spare Jakesh and help them make peace, Jakesh will reward you with 100 groschen. When reporting back to Bozhena, you can decide whether to keep the money or share it, allowing Bozhena and Pavlena to return to the settlement.
