Hitman Dev Unveils New James Bond Game: 007 First Light

by Finn Oct 18,2025

After five long years since its initial announcement, IO Interactive's highly anticipated James Bond game is finally ready for its debut. Originally unveiled as Project 007, the official title has been confirmed as 007: First Light, with a full reveal expected this week.

Today's Twitter/X post from IO Interactive featured a striking silhouette possibly depicting Bond, illuminated by a solitary light beam alongside the text "First Light 007" and "Game reveal this week." The hashtag "#EarnTheNumber" suggests the game will explore Bond's origin story, showing how he earned his legendary 007 designation.

While the announcement didn't provide additional specifics, industry watchers anticipate its appearance during upcoming gaming events like Summer Game Fest or other early June showcases.

First revealed in 2020 as Project 007, details about First Light have remained scarce. We know it presents an original Bond origin story rather than adapting existing films. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak has expressed ambitions for a game trilogy, though development has temporarily paused the studio's Hitman series. Recent reports confirm platforms include PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo's forthcoming Switch 2.
