Marvel Explores Defenders Reunion Strategies

by Jonathan May 01,2025

The excitement is building as the next season of *Daredevil* approaches, and the creative minds behind the series are already contemplating future possibilities, including a potential reunion of *The Defenders*. In an extensive profile featured on Entertainment Weekly (EW), Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of bringing back the street-level heroes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.

While no plans have been officially confirmed, Winderbaum shared with EW, "It's certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox… Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television." He further elaborated, "But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."

It's already known that *Daredevil: Born Again* will continue the story that began on Netflix, serving as a direct sequel. Netflix previously hosted its own Marvel universe, featuring shows like *Jessica Jones*, *Iron Fist*, and *Luke Cage* on a more intimate scale. Winderbaum's comments suggest that *Daredevil: Born Again* might serve as a springboard for reintroducing these beloved characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) through Disney+. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher in the new season is a testament to the transition of Netflix heroes to Disney's platform.

For now, fans will need to wait for the premiere of *Daredevil: Born Again* on March 4 to see how the story unfolds and how it might connect to the broader MCU.
