Ultra is turning 60 next year, so Tsuburaya Productions has announced a massive celebration. They’re calling it the Ultra Series 60th Anniversary Project, aiming to spread Ultraman’s legacy even further. Part of the project includes a new mobile game called Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch.
What Will be the Genre of the Mobile Game Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch?
Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch will be a match-3 puzzle mobile game. It’s set to release worldwide on Android and iOS sometime in 2025. However, it won’t be available in mainland China or EU member countries.
The game is set on the planet Milanos, a distant world far away in space. You’ll encounter over 60 characters, including the Ultra Heroes and kaiju. They are all from different eras, covering everything from the Showa to the Reiwa era.
So, you’ll get to see iconic characters like Ultraman, Ultraman Tiga Multi Type, Ultra Seven, Alien Baltan, Gomorrah, and Zetton. By the way, the game is being co-developed by MetaField and StudioZ, both subsidiaries of Tsuburaya Group.
It’s Been 60 Years!
Ultraman first appeared on TV in July 1966 in the series Ultra Q, inspiring audiences with themes of courage, hope, and kindness. The Ultra Series 60th Anniversary Project will unfold over about two and a half years. Apart from the new game, the plan includes a new TV series, live stage performances, digital content, and plenty of merchandise.
It’s a bit surprising that they chose the match-3 genre for the upcoming game. Will it be able to match Ultraman’s larger-than-life action? Well, only time will tell. They haven’t given any official release date yet. But for now, you can check out the official website for more information and updates.
