Nintendo has recently announced the pricing for upgrading two popular titles from their original Switch versions to the enhanced Switch 2 Editions. The cost to upgrade Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree to their Switch 2 Editions is significantly higher than previously released upgrades.
For comparison, upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the original Switch versions to the Switch 2 Edition costs $9.99 each. However, NintendoLife reported that both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrades are priced at more than double that amount.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, along with achievements and support for the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Breath of the Wild on the Switch can access these enhancements by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land includes new story content in the "Star-Crossed World." Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 Edition introduces "Jamboree TV," a new suite of content that utilizes the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera (sold separately). This edition also features upgraded resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rate, new minigames, and enhanced online functions.
Although U.S. prices are not yet listed on the American Nintendo eShop—potentially due to uncertainties related to President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop has the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack priced at £16.99 / €19.99, significantly higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. The upgrade for Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is similarly priced at £16.99 / €19.99, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.
The elevated upgrade cost might be influenced by the high price of the full Switch 2 Editions of both games, which are listed at $79.99 each, $20 more than their original Switch counterparts, priced at $59.99.
For those not upgrading, here are the prices of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:

It's worth noting that the upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. Unfortunately, there is no similar offer for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Party Jamboree at this time.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders opened on April 24, with the console priced at $449.99. The demand was predictably high, leading Nintendo to warn U.S. customers who pre-ordered through the My Nintendo Store that delivery on release day is not guaranteed.
