Nintendo Partners with LEGO Again

The gaming giant has announced another collaborative project with LEGO, this time recreating the iconic Game Boy in plastic bricks. After launching a LEGO NES set earlier, this marks the second Nintendo console to receive the LEGO treatment.

LEGO Game Boy Coming October 2025

Scheduled for release in October 2025, this new LEGO console has sparked mixed reactions online. While many fans expressed excitement, Nintendo's Twitter announcement became flooded with questions about Switch 2 instead. One commenter humorously noted: "Thanks for finally revealing the new console," while another quipped: "At this rate we'll get a LEGO Switch 2 before the real one."

LEGO Game Boy official announcement

While details about Switch 2 remain sparse, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed on May 7, 2024 that information about Switch's successor will come "within this fiscal year" (ending March 2025). Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy hasn't been disclosed yet, with Nintendo promising more details in coming months.

Nintendo-LEGO Partnership History

Previous Nintendo-LEGO collaborations

Beyond console recreations, Nintendo's partnership with LEGO has produced sets featuring characters from Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda franchises.

The May 2024 release of the 2,500-piece "Great Deku Tree" set ($299.99) allowed builders to recreate iconic scenes from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, complete with Zelda and Master Sword figures.

Super Mario LEGO set

Following this, LEGO launched a $129.99 Super Mario World set featuring Mario riding Yoshi with an interactive crank mechanism that moves Yoshi's legs.
