Overwatch 2 Unveils Exclusive China Events

Overwatch 2 is making a triumphant return to China on February 19, marking an exciting comeback that will delight fans across the country. Players in China will have the opportunity to earn rewards from Seasons 1 through 9, participate in thrilling in-game events, and enjoy new content as the game relaunches right around the start of Season 15.

The anticipation for Overwatch 2's return has been building since the game's technical test, which ran from January 8 through 15. During this test, Chinese fans got a sneak peek at the content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and the six heroes introduced since the servers went offline in China during Season 2.

Following the successful technical test, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller shared exciting news on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote). He announced a multi-week "Return to China" celebration that will feature some of the most beloved in-game events and rewards from the past two years. Chinese players will have the chance to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the relaunch, and rewards from Seasons 3 through 9 will be available through in-game events once the game is back online.

Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?

Adding to the excitement, Keller revealed that Season 15 of Overwatch 2 will include skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While details are scarce at the moment, it's unclear whether these skins will be new or existing, exclusive to China, or part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for Season 15. Fans are eager to learn more, especially given the successful Norse mythology theme of Season 14.

With Season 15 set to kick off on February 18, just before the official relaunch in China, the Overwatch community won't have to wait long for more information. A full reveal is expected in early February, promising new insights into the upcoming season.

In the meantime, global fans can dive into the second 6v6 test, Min 1, Max 3, from January 21 through February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Additionally, the Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are scheduled before Season 15, offering plenty of excitement for players worldwide. While Chinese players may miss out on these events, they can look forward to their own special celebrations as Overwatch 2 makes its much-anticipated return.
