How To Get Paradisan Ladder in Avowed
There are five primary ways to obtain Paradisan Ladder in Avowed: purchasing it from Merilyn, foraging in the wild, earning it as a side quest reward, breaking down existing items, and downgrading Hylea's Talon.
Merylin the Merchant

Merilyn, located in South Paradise (see map above), offers the fastest and most reliable method for acquiring Paradisan Ladder. She typically stocks five units at 150 coins each. Additionally, she sells the Many-Hued Doublet and the Common Grimoire of Elements, both of which yield two Paradisan Ladder units when broken down. Note that her inventory doesn't seem to replenish after selling out.
Exploring for Paradisan Ladder

While exploring both the wilderness and cities (like Paradise), keep an eye out for the Paradisan Ladder plant icon on your mini-map (indicated by the red circle above). While other plants may look similar, actively searching your immediate vicinity during gameplay will steadily increase your supply at no cost.
Side Quests
Completing side quests often rewards you with crafting materials, including Paradisan Ladder. For example, the early quest "Escape Plan" provides several crafting resources, among them two units of Paradisan Ladder. While requiring extra effort, this method offers XP and other benefits alongside the valuable herb.
Breaking Down Items
Avowed allows you to deconstruct items to reclaim their base components. This includes Paradisan Ladder from items previously upgraded with it. For instance, disassembling a Common Sword upgraded with Paradisan Ladder will return some of the herb. Check merchant inventories for unique items that list Paradisan Ladder in their breakdown details.
Downgrading Hylea's Talon

Once you reach Emerald Stair and obtain Hylea's Talon (a higher-tier material), you can downgrade each unit into three Paradisan Ladder units at your party camp workbench. Navigate to the "Crafting" tab, then select "Downgrade" under "Upgrade Materials." This is particularly useful for quickly upgrading a different weapon type if you change your build later in the game.
Now that you're well-versed in acquiring Paradisan Ladder, explore the Avowed timeline within the Pillars of Eternity universe and discover whether the game offers multiplayer features.
