DC Studios boss James Gunn has exciting news for fans, confirming that Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21. Alongside this announcement, Gunn shared a brief snippet of new footage featuring John Cena in action, smirking at the camera with a fire blazing in the background. In the clip, Peacemaker is referred to as "a superhero now," signaling a significant development in his character arc.
In a tweet, Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, stating that the Season 2 premiere is "one of my favorite things ever." He recently completed the DI & Mix on the premiere, which he finished just the day before his announcement.

Peacemaker Season 2 is set to follow the July 11 release of Superman, marking the beginning of Gunn's rebooted DCU. This season will be the third entry in the new DCU, coming after last year's Creature Commandos TV series and the upcoming Superman film this summer.
Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DC franchise away from the less successful DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. Despite this shift, certain elements will persist, and Peacemaker is a prime example. While Season 1 was part of the now-defunct DCEU, Season 2 will be fully integrated into the new DCU.
Gunn has mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," although the specifics of what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU are still under wraps. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return, with the same actors reprising their roles. This includes John Cena as Peacemaker, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.
Additionally, Gunn has noted that the events of Creature Commandos and Superman will occur before Peacemaker Season 2, with the latter's storyline even influencing Peacemaker's journey.
