SEGA's recent financial report for the fiscal year ending March 2024 hints at a potential global release for Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X). The report states that the game's initial performance is meeting expectations and that future expansion in Japan and globally is under consideration.

Licensed by Atlus, Persona 5: The Phantom X initially soft-launched in China on April 12, 2024, followed by Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, and Taiwan on April 18th. Published by Perfect World Games and developed by Black Wings Game Studio, the game is currently in open beta.

Players step into the shoes of a new silent protagonist, "Wonder," a high school student by day and Persona-wielding Phantom Thief by night. Joining forces with familiar faces and new allies, Wonder fights against societal injustices.

Wonder's initial Persona is Janosik, inspired by Slovakian folklore and embodying a Robin Hood-esque persona. The original Persona 5 protagonist, Joker, features alongside a new character, YUI.

Maintaining the series' core elements – turn-based combat, social simulation, and dungeon crawling – P5X introduces a gacha system for character acquisition.

New Roguelike Game Mode: Heart Rail

Popular Persona content creator, Faz, showcased the new Heart Rail roguelike game mode in his gameplay video. This mode, similar to *Honkai: Star Rail*'s Simulated Universe, offers power-up choices, diverse maps, and rewarding challenges.

Strong Sales for SEGA's Full Game Category

SEGA also reported strong sales of new titles from its Japanese studios, along with continued success for titles released in the previous fiscal year. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth achieved 1 million global sales in its first week, while Persona 3 Reload hit the same milestone, setting a new record as Atlus's fastest-selling title. Football Manager 2024 also boasts 9 million players since its November launch.

SEGA's FY25 Forecast and Restructure

SEGA announced a restructuring, creating a new "Gaming Business" segment. The company will prioritize online gaming, aiming to establish a significant presence in the North American market as a third pillar of its business model. This segment will also encompass SEGA SAMMY CREATION's slot machine operations and PARADISE SEGASAMMY's integrated resort facilities.

SEGA forecasts increased sales and profits for FY2025, projecting 93 billion Yen (approximately 597 billion USD) in revenue for the Full Game segment – a 5.4% increase year-on-year. A new Sonic title is also anticipated for next year.
