PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five extra days for free

Sony addressed the near-day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an unspecified "operational issue" in a social media statement. The company offered no further explanation of the cause or preventative measures.

To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony will automatically add five extra days to their subscriptions.

The outage significantly impacted gameplay, with over one-third of players unable to log in and others reporting server crashes.

Sony's requirement of a PSN account, even for single-player PC games, has drawn criticism, and this outage underscores those concerns.

While less severe than the major 2011 data breach that caused over 20 days of disruption, the lack of detailed information from Sony regarding this latest incident has left PS5 users frustrated.
