Many Pokémon GO players immediately ask about the price of new in-game items. The recently announced Pokémon GO Tour Pass surprised many by being entirely free – but what does it offer?

Understanding the Pokémon GO Tour Pass

Debuting with the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova global event, the Tour Pass introduces a system of Tour Points earned through various in-game activities. These points unlock rewards, boost your rank, and enhance event bonuses.

The standard Tour Pass is free and automatically granted to players starting February 24th at 10 AM local time. A paid version, the Tour Pass Deluxe ($14.99 USD or equivalent), offers an instant Victini encounter, superior rewards, and faster progression.

Earning and Utilizing Tour Points

Tour Points are earned via familiar activities: catching Pokémon, completing raids, hatching eggs, and dedicated daily Pass Tasks. Accumulating points unlocks rewards, increases your rank within the Tour Pass tiers, and boosts Catch XP bonuses during the Unova event.

Rank-based Catch XP bonuses include:

• 1.5x Catch XP at Tier 2
• 2x Catch XP at Tier 3
• 3x Catch XP at Tier 4

Niantic has yet to reveal all rewards, promising further details. The free Tour Pass culminates in a Zorua encounter with a unique background, while the Deluxe Pass offers a Lucky Trinket as its top reward.

Decoding the Lucky Trinket

The Lucky Trinket, exclusive to the Tour Pass Deluxe, is a single-use item transforming a Great Friend or higher into a Lucky Friend. This allows for a Lucky Pokémon trade without requiring Best Friend status. Note that Lucky Trinkets earned during GO Tour: Unova expire on March 9, 2025.
