PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus

by Joshua Mar 05,2025

Sony's recent State of Play showcased Days Gone Remastered, but its $10 upgrade policy has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. The $10 upgrade to the PS5 remaster is only available to those who purchased the PS4 disc or digital version; PS Plus subscribers who redeemed the game are ineligible.

This means PS Plus users must pay the full $49.99 price for the PS5 version. This has led to widespread online complaints, with many subscribers expressing their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade but not the full price. Several Reddit comments highlight this sentiment, with users stating they would have paid the smaller fee to try the remaster but will now skip it entirely. The perceived lost revenue from this decision is a major point of contention.

One user, squarejellyfish_, pointed out the potential lost revenue if PS Plus users were included in the upgrade offer, suggesting even a small percentage would have paid $10. Others echoed this, highlighting the missed opportunity. The argument that Sony gave the game away for free, thus already losing potential revenue, is also prevalent.

While some understand Sony's likely financial calculations behind this decision, many hardcore fans criticize the company's perceived stinginess, especially considering past instances of generosity.
