Despite their years on the market, Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V remain incredibly popular, showcasing the enduring appeal of Rockstar's open-world masterpieces. These titles exemplify the studio's renowned quality and success within the gaming industry.

Released in 2013, Grand Theft Auto V thrust players into the chaotic world of Los Santos, following three aspiring criminals. Its initial success was amplified by subsequent re-releases across various platforms and the immensely popular online multiplayer mode, solidifying its place as one of the best-selling entertainment products ever. Red Dead Redemption 2, released in 2018, transported players to the untamed Old West through the eyes of outlaw Arthur Morgan, achieving critical acclaim and significant commercial success.

Although nearly 12 years have passed since Grand Theft Auto V's launch and almost seven since Red Dead Redemption 2, both open-world games continue to dominate sales charts. PlayStation's December 2024 download charts reveal Grand Theft Auto V as the third best-selling PS5 title in the US/Canada and Europe, and fifth on PS4 in both regions. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 topped PS4 sales in the US and secured second place in Europe, trailing only EA Sports FC 25.

GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 Remain PlayStation Sales Chart Toppers
