Riot Games made a notable appearance at this year's DICE Summit, where co-founder Marc Merrill shared exciting insights in a post-event discussion with Stephen Totilo. A major highlight was Merrill's announcement of his ambition to develop a new MMO set within the expansive universe of League of Legends and Arcane. This project, which consumes a significant portion of Merrill's time, reflects his deep passion for the MMO genre—a passion he believes is crucial to the game's potential success. Additionally, the project is fueled by the League of Legends community's eagerness to dive deeper into their beloved universe.

While specific details about the MMO remain under wraps, including any potential release dates, Merrill humorously expressed his hope that the game would be ready before humans set foot on Mars. Whether this playful timeline will hold up is yet to be determined.

In addition to the MMO, Riot Games is also developing another game within the League of Legends universe: 2XKO, a highly anticipated fighting game. Unlike the MMO, 2XKO has already been showcased with trailers and is slated for release before the year ends, much to the excitement of fans who have been eagerly awaiting this title.
