Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, marking its latest flagship smartphone at the May Unpacked event. Although it shares similarities with the Galaxy S25 released earlier in 2025, the new sleeker design gives it a competitive edge.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring the same Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a comparable 200MP camera system. However, the standout difference lies in the chassis, which has been refined to a mere 5.8mm thickness compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in size also translates to a lighter weight, now tipping the scales at just 163 grams.
Despite its slimmer profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display seen in the Galaxy S25, offering nearly identical visual quality to the slightly larger 6.9-inch panel of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Durability remains a critical consideration given the phone’s slim form factor. To mitigate concerns, Samsung has upgraded the protective glass to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which promises enhanced resilience compared to the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While drops remain a manageable risk, sitting on the phone in your pocket poses a greater challenge. Only time will tell if Samsung has truly addressed this issue.
The Galaxy S25 Edge also inherits the suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Galaxy S24 in 2024, with further refinements in 2025. Leveraging the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, these tools enable extensive local AI processing, enhancing privacy while still relying on cloud-based solutions for certain applications. Notably, Samsung offers innovative features such as notification and article summaries at a glance, catering to users who prefer concise overviews.
Priced at $1,099 for the 256GB variant and $1,219 for the 512GB version, the Galaxy S25 Edge is now available for preorder. It comes in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung is banking on the promise of durability in this ultra-slim device. Let’s hope their efforts pay off and deliver a reliable user experience.
