My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket ebbs and flows, but nothing gets me more excited than the arrival of a new set. I dive back in, fully engaged, especially when there are Emblems to be earned after securing around 40 wins. Once the initial excitement wanes, my routine shifts to logging in daily, opening packs, and enjoying a Wonder Pick just for fun, before setting it aside until the next day. This cycle is set to repeat with the upcoming expansion, Shining Revelry, launching on March 27th.
Shining Revelry will enrich the game with 110 new cards, featuring an assortment of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and those stunning art cards we all cherish. The highlight of this set, hinted at by its name, is the inclusion of Shiny Pokemon. For those new to the concept, these are unique color variations of your favorite creatures; think of a yellow Lucario instead of blue, or a Pachirisu adorned with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse of what's to come, and let's explore it in more detail. A standout is the new Shiny Charizard Ex, boasting 180 HP and a powerful attack named Steam Artillery that inflicts 150 damage. However, it requires a hefty five energy cards to execute. Thankfully, its secondary move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy at once, easing the burden.
Another exciting addition is Lucario Ex. Previously more of a support in the Space-Time Smackdown set, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is ready for frontline combat. With 150 HP and the attack Aura Sphere, which deals 100 damage for three Fighting Energy and also hits an opponent's Benched Pokemon for 30, it's set to make an impact.
The trailer also showcases other cards that may not be game-changers but are visually appealing nonetheless. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are set to dazzle, while the art rare of Tatsugiri is a must-have for my digital collection.
