"Split Fiction Reaches 2 Million Sales in One Week"

by Violet May 22,2025

Hazelight Games is celebrating the phenomenal launch of their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, which has sold an impressive 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game featuring a dual-protagonist storyline has quickly cemented its status as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are “blown away” by the enthusiastic response from both new and returning fans.

The game's momentum was evident from the start, with 1 million copies sold in the first 48 hours. This means an additional million players have joined Mio and Zoe’s sci-fi journey in the subsequent five days. The co-op nature of Split Fiction suggests the actual player engagement far exceeds the sales figures, especially considering the game’s Friend’s Pass feature. This innovative system allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play at no extra cost, further amplifying its reach among gaming enthusiasts.

As Split Fiction continues to make a splash on social media, the 2 million sales figure is poised to grow even more. Hazelight’s previous success with 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two showcases a similar trajectory. That game sold around 1 million copies a few weeks post-launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023, and an astounding 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as “an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another,” highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay.
