EA is set to unveil its highly anticipated Star Wars turn-based tactics game at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This untitled project, announced in early 2022, is being developed by Bit Reactor, a studio formed by veterans of Firaxis Games, known for their acclaimed work on the XCOM series. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this new strategy game to life. Fans will get their first glimpse of the game on April 19 during a live panel featuring the lead development team from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, as outlined in the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.
Details about the game, such as the Star Wars era it will explore or the specifics of its gameplay, remain under wraps. However, given the pedigree of its developers, fans can expect a strategic experience akin to XCOM, infused with the rich lore and iconic elements of the Star Wars universe.
Respawn Entertainment is also busy with the third installment of their Star Wars Jedi trilogy, though it won't be showcased at this year's celebration. Additionally, Respawn had been developing another Star Wars game, a first-person shooter rumored to star a Mandalorian protagonist, but it was canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA that resulted in approximately 670 job losses. In March, Respawn also quietly canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project, affecting an undisclosed number of staff.
Star Wars Celebration 2025 will also feature exciting previews of other upcoming projects, including a sneak peek at the "The Mandalorian & Grogu" movie, slated for release in May 2026, and a first look at "Star Wars: Visions Volume 3."
