Excitement is building as DC has officially begun filming their next major project, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. To mark this milestone, DC's head honcho, James Gunn, took to Bluesky to share a special sneak peek. He posted the first image of Milly Alcock, known from *House of the Dragon*, stepping into the iconic role of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. While it's not a full costume reveal, the photo of Alcock in her actor's chair is a thrilling glimpse into the production.

Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El." This confirms that Craig Gillespie, renowned for directing *Cruella* and *I, Tonya*, will be guiding the film, as we previously reported in April.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, it's known that *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* will draw heavily from the critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. This standalone story follows an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who recruits Supergirl to seek vengeance for her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The comic was nominated for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards and is highly recommended for fans.

The cast is shaping up to be stellar, with Matthias Schoenaerts set to portray Krem, and Eve Ridley playing Ruthye. Joining them are David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father, Zor-El, Emily Beecham as her mother, and Jason Momoa, who has been recast in the DC universe as the intergalactic bounty hunter, Lobo.

*Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* is the second film in the new DC universe, following James Gunn's *Superman*, which is slated for release this summer. Other projects in development include *The Batman Part II* (which may or may not connect to Gunn's broader universe) and a rumored *Clayface* movie from Mike Flanagan.
