Here's IDW's official synopsis for issue #5:
The second installment in the legendary Last Ronin saga reaches its fiery and climactic conclusion! The streets of New York are engulfed in an all-out war, and no one is safe. Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno are all in the crosshairs. Will everyone survive? Their fate lies in the hands of legendary writers Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz as this chapter of The Last Ronin saga draws to a close!
In a 2024 interview with IGN, co-creator Kevin Eastman shared insights on the updated characters: "One of the things we aimed for was to refresh the characters. With two male and two female Turtle characters, Tom and I worked on capturing what modern teenagers might think, say, and do. We've crafted a diverse group of personalities, much like the original Turtles. They love their family deeply, but that doesn't mean they always get along. They might argue, have spats, and disagree, but when it's time to unite as a team, it's the heart and soul of their family that keeps them together. This is the core of anything we do with the Turtles."
