This challenging boss resides in a large, circular arena within the Shores of Last Breath, Fagaceae Peninsula. However, accessing the fight requires completing two prerequisites.
First, finish the "Where Winds Return to Celestial Realms" quest. This exploration quest, located in the Shores of Last Breath, involves combat challenges. Completion unlocks access to Nightmare Tempest Mephis' arena.
Second, locate all Dream Patrols in the Shores of Last Breath. Completing them isn't necessary; simply discovering their locations on your map suffices. Upon finding all patrols, a message confirms Nightmare Tempest Mephis' appearance, and the boss becomes accessible at the location shown in the image above.
Should You Use Nightmare Tempest Mephis?
The optimal choice depends on your Echo stats and desired character build. Nightmare Tempest Mephis inherently grants an Electro DMG bonus when equipped in the main Echo slot, appearing in either Void Thunder or Empyrean Anthem Sonata sets. Void Thunder generally benefits all Electro damage dealers, while Empyrean Anthem Sonata is better suited for characters utilizing Coordinated Attacks (e.g., Yinlin and Yuanwu).
