Pokémon GO is buzzing with activity, featuring not one, but two exciting events! First up is the Catch Mastery event, a part of the ongoing Might and Mastery event, and a great opportunity to catch the First Bird Pokémon, Archen.
Catch Mastery: Archen Takes Flight!
From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time on March 16th, prepare for a flurry of Rock-type Pokémon! Omanyte and Kabuto will be appearing more frequently in the wild, with a chance to encounter their Shiny forms. Archen itself will be available as a Field Research reward, boasting an increased Shiny rate. To further incentivize catching, you'll receive double XP for Nice Throws and better, and for Curveball Throws. A Timed Research task focusing on catching Rock-types will also be available, offering up to 40 Archen encounters if you complete all 10 sets of tasks.
Mega Absol Raid Day: Unleash Brutal Swing!
Next, get ready for the Mega Absol Raid Day on March 23rd, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. This event marks the debut of Absol's powerful new Charged Attack, Brutal Swing, dealing 55 power in Trainer Battles and 65 power in Gyms and Raids. This move will be permanently added to Absol's moveset after the event.
To help you maximize your raid participation, the Remote Raid Pass limit will be temporarily increased to 20 from 5:00 p.m. PDT on March 22nd to 8:00 p.m. PDT on March 23rd. You'll also be able to collect up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs, giving you a total of six for the day.
