Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Comprehensive Guide
Several quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 require reaching Kuttenberg before activation. Once there, inter-region travel opens up. This guide details completing the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest.
Prerequisites: "In Vino Veritas"
Before tackling "Under the Straw Hat," you must begin "In Vino Veritas." This quest unfolds in Kuttenberg. Upon arrival, speak with Casper Rudolf, offering free wine samples on the city's west side. He needs information to improve his wine.
You can either directly impress Havel with wine knowledge or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta and enhance your oenological expertise. If approaching Havel directly, ensure you're clean and wearing decent attire. Select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" during your conversation to obtain the necessary information. Return this intel to Casper.
Accessing the Vineyard
Casper now tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to investigate the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid trespassing by using the main road. Speak with the recruiter; this initiates the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Continue along the road, passing a guard before reaching Jerome, seated on a bench within the estate. Inform Jerome of your assignment. He'll provide details about vineyard work.
Vineyard Labor and Incense Acquisition
Work commences the following day. Return to the vineyard in the morning. For payment, relocate sacks and harvest thistles. Alternatively, proceed directly to the secret incense.
The incense resides in the cellar of the main building. Accessing this restricted area, even as a worker, risks punishment if detected. Use a lockpick or steal the keys from Jerome.
Locate the chest within the cellar and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks. This fulfills the primary objective. For an increased reward, collect five seedlings (another act of trespassing, requiring speed) located across the building from the main entrance.
After completing your tasks (or bypassing them), report to Jerome for payment (if applicable) or deliver the wicks (and potentially seedlings) to Casper.
Completing these steps concludes both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas," paving the way for further quests, such as "Master Schindel's Toys."
