A cinematic adaptation of the 2007 Kane & Lynch game, crafted by Hitman developer IO Interactive, was in development for years, with numerous Hollywood stars linked to the project at various stages.
This week, Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto shared on social media that he had penned a treatment for the Kane & Lynch film, envisioning David Harbour — known for playing Jim Hopper in Stranger Things and Red Guardian in Thunderbolts*/New Avengers — in a starring role.
"I never saw a script, but a few years back when the project was still generating buzz, I wrote a brief treatment picturing James Badge Dale and David Harbour," Tjahjanto posted. "It never went anywhere."

Tjahjanto might find comfort in knowing his treatment — a concept outline submitted to a film studio as a precursor to a screenplay — was one of many unproduced ideas for a Kane & Lynch movie.
For years, Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were attached to the project, but both departed amid multiple script revisions.
Later, another iteration of the film was said to feature Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel in the lead roles, though that version also failed to materialize.
Ultimately, following a lackluster sequel — 2010’s Kane & Lynch: Dog Days — IO Interactive shifted its focus entirely to the Hitman franchise, sidelining the series.
