When diving into the Soulslike genre with *The First Berserker: Khazan*, players brace themselves for challenging encounters, and the battle against Yetuga is no exception. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to triumph over Yetuga in *The First Berserker: Khazan*.
How To Beat Yetuga in The First Berserker: Khazan
Although Yetuga marks your first boss encounter in the game, don't be fooled into thinking it will be an easy fight. After mastering the various combat mechanics in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, you'll need to utilize all of them to emerge victorious.
Yetuga is an aggressive adversary, relentlessly attacking when its territory is threatened, especially as you approach the end of the Mount Heinmach level. Like other large beasts you've battled, Yetuga can unleash both long and short-range attacks, including a leaping slam.
Your strategy will hinge on your playstyle, requiring precise dodges and parries to minimize damage. Yetuga's repertoire includes:
- A two-hit combo starting with a left-handed smash downward, followed by a right-handed uppercut.
- A four-hit combo featuring horizontal swipes with either its left or right arm.
- A downward smash using both arms.
- A leaping single-handed smash.
- A jumping grab.
- A charge.
As you engage in combat, you'll quickly learn Yetuga's attack patterns, allowing you to strike back during its brief moments of vulnerability. Parrying, except for the jumping grab, not only helps you avoid damage but also inflicts more Stamina damage on the boss. Exploit Yetuga's aggression by dodging its charge and allowing it to smash into a wall, which momentarily stuns it and gives you a window to attack. This is your chance to target and destroy the ice spikes on its back, weakening its offensive capabilities.
In the second phase, you can parry all of Yetuga's attacks except for the grab, which conserves your Stamina. Keep the pressure on to transition to the next stage of the fight. Once Yetuga roars and powers up, maintain your distance.
At this point, Yetuga will grab a giant rock and attempt to smash it towards you. Timing your dodge or parry perfectly is crucial to avoid damage. Additionally, it will deploy a frost breath attack that generates ice spikes; either evade or parry this when it comes your way. Seize opportunities to use Potent Attacks, and when Yetuga shows signs of exhaustion, unleash a Brutal Attack to deal significant damage and bring it down swiftly.
Upon defeating Yetuga, you'll be rewarded with 4,800 Lacrima, along with several Frozen Mountain gear items and the Necklace of Resolve.
