"Drive Cars with Eye Control: Open Drive Now in Early Access on Android"

Open Drive, a groundbreaking mobile racing game, is now available in early access on Android. Developed by the charity organization SpecialEffect in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios, Open Drive is designed to be accessible to everyone, particularly those with physical disabilities.

What’s the Game About?

Open Drive is all about flexibility and inclusivity, allowing players to enjoy the game using a variety of input methods such as touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, or a controller. It's tailored to accommodate players who use alternative input methods like eye gaze, making it a pioneer in mobile gaming accessibility.

One of the game's most innovative features is mobile-specific eye control. With a compatible eye gaze camera, players can steer their vehicle simply by looking left or right. This feature significantly enhances accessibility, especially for players with physical challenges who may struggle with traditional touch or gamepad inputs. Eye control is supported across all four of the game's diverse open worlds: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

Gameplay in Open Drive is highly adaptable. Players can leisurely drive around collecting orbs or engage in high-speed chases and perform daring jumps using various vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. The game also allows players to adjust their speed to their liking. For a glimpse into the game's world, check out the early access announcement trailers below.

Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access

Open Drive automatically detects and adjusts to the player's chosen control method, with full support for Switch Access on Android. Each input method offers unique setups: for touch controls, players can choose between 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes, allowing steering via tapping or directional control. Similar customizations are available for Switch Access, mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads/controllers.

Currently, Open Drive is available in early access on Android, although the eye control functionality is not yet fully implemented. The full version, complete with eye control, is expected to be released for free later this summer. If this sounds intriguing, you can explore Open Drive on the Google Play Store right now.
