Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

by Jack May 25,2025

Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the previous DC Extended Universe, is set to bring the character Lobo to life in the 2026 DC Universe film, "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow." Lobo, an alien bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, possesses superhuman strength and immortality, and is the last of his kind, much like Superman. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo debuted in "Omega Men #3" back in 1983.

Momoa has expressed his excitement about portraying Lobo, citing the character as his favorite from the comics. He has pointed out the aesthetic similarities between himself and Lobo, which adds to his enthusiasm for the role. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Momoa hinted at what fans can expect from Lobo's appearance in the movie. He mentioned that while Lobo's screen time will be brief, the character's portrayal will be true to the comics, complete with a rough and gruff demeanor and an impressive bike.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

"Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" will also star Milly Alcock as Supergirl, or Kara Zor-El. The film, inspired by the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, follows the story of an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, seeking vengeance for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl. The villain Krem of the Yellow Hills will be portrayed by Matthias Schoenaerts, while Eve Ridley will play Ruthye. The cast is rounded out by David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Supergirl's father, and Emily Beecham as her mother.

James Gunn, co-chief of DC, shared the first look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl in January, marking the beginning of production. "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" is slated for release in June 2026, making it the second film in the new DCU, following Gunn's "Superman" set to premiere this summer. The DCU's "Clayface" movie is scheduled for September 2026.
