Leaked Battlefield Content Excites Fans; EA Yet to Respond

by Michael Apr 21,2025

Despite the stringent measures taken by EA, including requiring players to sign NDAs, details of their upcoming untitled Battlefield game have inevitably leaked online. The internet is now buzzing with dozens of videos and screenshots that reveal what participants in the game's closed playtesting have been experiencing. These leaks confirm the "modern" setting previously hinted at by Vince Zampella, setting this installment apart from its predecessors. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals intense firefights, showcasing the game's signature destructible environments and introducing exciting new mechanics such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.

Surprisingly, EA has taken a relatively relaxed approach to these leaks. Typically, game publishers are quick to issue takedowns on unauthorized pre-release content due to concerns about incomplete features, such as animations and UI, or less-than-polished graphics. However, EA has not moved to suppress the leaked material, despite clear breaches of confidentiality by players.

This leniency might be influenced by the positive reception the leaks are receiving. Unlike the tepid response to Battlefield 2042, fans are expressing genuine excitement about what they've seen. One player commented, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" Another added, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me." Enthusiasm continues with a player exclaiming, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!" and another opining, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."

EA anticipates launching its next Battlefield game within the fiscal year 2026, which spans from April 2025 to March 2026. Following the first official unveiling last month, it's been confirmed that the new game will feature the return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign—a move that has been warmly received by fans who missed this element in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
