How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds
The Chatacabra, a formidable frog-like monster, primarily employs close-range attacks with its tongue but can also charge at you if you're too distant. It's considered one of the easier monsters to tackle, making any weapon a viable choice. However, due to its smaller size, weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade might be less effective compared to others, as their multi-hit attacks are more suited to larger foes.
Most of the Chatacabra's attacks involve its tongue, putting you at greatest risk when directly in front of it. It also uses its front limbs for ground slams, which are always preceded by it rearing up. The only significant attack to watch for when you're not in front is a sweeping tongue attack initiated when the monster raises its head skyward.
To effectively defeat the Chatacabra, position yourself to its sides. Dodge or block its slam attacks, and leverage its weaknesses to ice and thunder elements. By doing so, you'll quickly bring down this creature and might soon find yourself sporting a new frog skin hat.

Capturing the Chatacabra follows the standard procedure for capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Since this creature cannot fly, it presents a more straightforward challenge. To capture it, equip yourself with either a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap and at least two Tranq Bombs. For safety, consider carrying one of each trap and up to eight Tranq Bombs, as unforeseen events can complicate the process.
Engage the Chatacabra in combat until its icon on the mini-map shows a skull, indicating it's weakened and attempting to flee to another area for the last time.
