Milly Alcock, renowned for her portrayal of the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the "Game of Thrones" spinoff "House of the Dragon," faced a challenging start to her role. The Australian actress shared on "The Tonight Show" that on just her second day on set, a high-ranking individual suggested she needed an acting coach. This revelation left her feeling mortified and questioning her abilities. Alcock humorously remarked that the incident confirmed her self-doubt, joking, "It just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, [which] is that I’m not very good at my job... I was like, ‘I can’t do this. This is terrible. This is a big mistake.’"
Despite this early setback, Alcock's career continues to soar. She is set to take on the role of Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in the upcoming "Superman" movie this summer and in "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" next year. In "House of the Dragon," she played King Viserys I Targaryen's daughter and heir as a series regular in Season 1 and made a guest appearance in Season 2, which chronicles the decline of the House Targaryen. The role of the adult Rhaenyra Targaryen, who eventually ascends to the throne, is portrayed by Emma D’Arcy.
The series, which premiered in August 2022, filled the void left by the original "Game of Thrones," which concluded just over three years prior. "House of the Dragon" quickly gained acclaim, securing a Season 2 renewal shortly after its debut and a Season 3 renewal in June 2024, even before Season 2 began airing. The show's success was further cemented when it won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series — Drama.
While Season 3 of "House of the Dragon" is confirmed to be in the works, fans eagerly await an official release date to continue following the tumultuous journey of the Targaryen dynasty.
