During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo revealed that nearly all of its Nintendo Switch library will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. However, several popular titles are receiving enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions with unique features. The games include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.

Each Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game boasts distinct improvements. The first showcased was Super Mario Party: Jamboree, which introduces "Jamboree TV", featuring mouse controls, audio recognition, enhanced rumble, and gameplay integration with a new camera accessory.

PlayNext up were The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which will offer improved resolution, framerate, and HDR support. Additionally, a new service on the Nintendo Switch Online app, "Zelda Notes", will provide voice guidance to locate Shrines and Koroks and allow sharing of creations in Tears of the Kingdom via QR codes with friends.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to receive a new story, "Star-Crossed World", exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, along with enhanced graphics and framerates.

Two new titles, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, are also getting upgraded versions. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support mouse controls, 4K resolution at 60fps, and HDR, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature better resolution and framerates.

These upgraded games will be available in both physical and digital formats. For owners of the original Switch versions of Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby, upgrade packs will be available for purchase.
