The Tingklik is a cherished traditional Balinese musical instrument, crafted from bamboo in the form of blades. It is played by striking these bamboo blades with a paddle known as a tingklik pelvis. The Tingklik Gamelan ensemble typically features two instruments: the Tingklik Polos and the Tingklik Sangsih. A single tingklik can contain anywhere from eleven to twenty-five bamboo blades, with the number varying according to the scale being used. To play the tingklik, musicians employ both hands; the right hand focuses on the kotekan, which is the melody, while the left hand manages the bun, which is the rhythm. Occasionally, the right hand also plays the sangsih, and the left hand plays the plain, adding depth and complexity to the performance.
