How to Complete All Arata Stages in GHOUL://RE
After extensive trial and error, we've figured out how to unlock all three Arata stages in GHOUL://RE. While these stages don't demand high gaming skills or much exploration, they do require significant Reputation grinding. We're talking about a LOT of grinding!
Arata Stage 1 in GHOUL://RE
To kick things off, you need to amass 25,000 Reputation points and reach the top rank of Special Investigator within the C.C.G. organization. Head over to the Commission of Counter Ghoul (C.C.G. center) and find Damiro D. Mado, the NPC with headphones on the second floor. He'll give you the quest to collect 10 one-eyed fragments and 10 Kokuja fragments.
The quickest way to obtain these fragments is by defeating bosses like Eto and Tatara and then crafting them at the crafting station. To check your Reputation, speak to Saiyo Natsuki, the NPC in a black suit and tie. Once you've gathered all 20 fragments, craft them into five one-eyed Kokuja fragments at the crafting station. Return to Damiro, and he'll direct you to speak to "him". This caused confusion in the GHOUL://RE community, but "he" is actually Black Reaper of Doom And Despair, who was hiding in plain sight. Our guide on NPC locations in GHOUL://RE can save you the hassle of searching for them.
Arata Stage 2 in GHOUL://RE
For Arata stages 2 and 3, you'll need to switch to permadeath mode to acquire the legendary armor. It's advisable to team up with reliable and strong players, as solo missions can be frustrating.
Once you've earned 100,000 Reputation points, head to the elevator in the C.C.G. building and go to the Laboratory. Locate Black Reaper of Doom And Despair, the man with the scalpel in a black suit next to the door.
Hand over five one-eyed Kokuja fragments and your 100,000 Reputation to complete Stage 2 of the Arata-Proto armor quest. Despite rumors suggesting you need only 75,000 or between 90,000 and 100,000 Reputation points, our experience shows that 100,000 Reputation points are necessary for guaranteed success.
Remember, you must play stages 2 and 3 on PD servers. Failing to do so will result in repeated responses from the Black Reaper, and you will not complete Arata Stage 2 or progress to Arata Stage 3.
Arata Stage 3 in GHOUL://RE
The final Arata stage also involves "The Scalpel Guy", some fragments, and a hefty amount of cash. As with Stage 2, you must be in PD mode to continue your quest for the epic armor.
Gather a single one-eyed Kakuja fragment and save up 500,000 Yen. Visit Black Reaper of Doom And Despair again in the C.C.G. building, and upon paying him, he will teleport you to face the Kishou Arima boss.
To defeat the boss, you'll need at least average gaming skills, involving a lot of jumping, dodging, blocking, and dealing high damage from above. Kishou Arima is challenging but not unbeatable; with practice, even average players can triumph.
Be prepared for potential multiple deaths during this fight, and ensure you have ample resources. Each retry will require another one-eyed Kakuja fragment and an additional 500,000 Yen.
Upon defeating Kishou Arima, you'll unlock Stage 3 Arata-Proto armor. However, be cautious; while Arata armor provides impressive buffs and protection, it severely impacts your body as detailed below.

Arata is a powerful armor, but it drains your hunger at an alarming rate while worn. You can't eat while wearing Arata in any stage, so you'll need to remove it to replenish hunger.
Despite these drawbacks, the armor's benefits are significant. Firstly, you can't be ragdolled while wearing Arata, a huge advantage in all game scenarios.
Additionally, Arata enhances your equipment. Your character becomes increasingly "tanky", capable of absorbing and dealing massive damage. However, if your hunger bar depletes during a fight, Arata will start consuming your health bar. Be cautious during boss fights, and remove the armor if it becomes too risky to patch up your health.
Reputation Grinding
The fastest way to accumulate the required Reputation is by fighting bosses in PD mode. Despite the risk, each boss killed in PD mode grants 1,500 Reputation, far better than the 500 you get outside PD. Killing Ghouls only yields 100 Reputation points per kill, making them less efficient for grinding during Arata quests.
